Pizza Friday #2: Coworker gift guide and brain rot
peer pressuring ourselves into making this a weekly thing
Hello and Happy Pizza Friday!!! Welcome to the second (!) edition of the newsletter. Was the first not chaotic enough for you? We are BACK and trying our best to increase our unhinged rating so let’s get after it.
First matter of business: You may be able to tell from the send time on this thing that we were Pizza Friday-ing so hard we almost forgot to Pizza Friday Newsletter. So hopefully you’ve already *slammed your computer shut ‘til Monday* and are doing whatever it is that you please this Pizza Friday. And if you haven’t, forward this email to your boss immediately telling them that it’s insane that you’re working after 7PM on a Friday in December - the Pizza Friday collective told you so.
Second matter of business: We released our Very Official Coworker Gift Guide™️ on Instagram, in case you are still fretting over an office Secret Santa gift. Personally we would be thrilled to receive any of these. 😏
~ PFR (Pizza Friday Riddle) Break ~
In lieu of a riddle this week we would like to know if anyone understood what was happening here before they got to the third slide:
Oh and for those following along, the answer to last week’s riddle was “wet.” Shout out to Maddie for the closest answer. Shout out to Meghan for the most creative answer (and to Mr. & Mrs. Simonett for getting involved!)
Things that stopped our scroll
This cute old man (🥲), and a gentle reminder. - Kira, Design
“Here goes something, I guess…” - Maggie, Operations
Ok I recognize the irony here, but one Substack that always makes me stop and read in the moment is Break Free From The Internet. Today I learned that the 2024 Oxford Word of the Year is ‘brain rot’—thanks to their rant on the topic—which has me re-evaluating my own version(s) of brain rot as I approach 2025!! 😅 See also: their newsletter on What to do instead of scrolling. - Lauren, Marketing
I’m putting myself on blast here by admitting that I was duped by the $39 Alo Sweatsuit promotion on TikTok. I’ve previously scored some wild deals on TikTok so I thought the algorithm was rewarding me for being a loyal user… turns out I was wrong! I’ve been emailing the associated customer service email address, mybeau1@yahoo.com, daily with no response. We live, we laugh, we learn!!!! - Julia, Founder
Take a Walk
This is your reminder to close your laptop and take! a! walk! Here’s what we spotted on our recent walks:

~*~The Recess Collective~*~
P.S. We know that we said that Pizza Friday has DGAF energy, but in reality we are a collective of ex-corporate girls working through our fears of visibility and perfectionism... so we want feedback! What you would want to see more of / less of in a Pizza Friday newsletter? How chaotic was this newsletter on a scale of 1-10?
Love it all, including and especially the name! Xx
